The house is a prow front style, very bright, with large sliding French doors, cathedral ceilings, skylights, ceiling fans, and gleaming wide pine floors. The heating system is forced hot air by oil. Many of the furnishings are antique and lovely. Everything is top of the line. It is truly a beautiful house. |
Everything is provided for your comfort, including blankets, quilts, spreads, and fresh pillows. Linens are not provided. Please bring sheets, towels, and dishtowels. Dishes, glassware, flatware, and cooking utensils are supplied. Please feel free to use any food staples, cleaning supplies, and paper goods in the house. The stove is electric and more pans, etc. can be found in the drawer below the oven. A nice range of spices is in the cabinet above. |
The downstairs living room has the television and the VCR-DVD. TV channel access is limited. We have a fairly extensive library of movies for you to enjoy, or you can rent them at many places locally ie: Flippers variety or the Pizza/movie house in Waldoboro. The upstairs living room/great room has a stereo system with am/fm, cassette & c.d. player, for relaxing while you look out on the water. The pier has an octagonal seating area that is perfect for enjoying a refreshing drink while admiring the spectacular ocean view of the islands, boats, ducks, and the occasional seal. It is an idyllic Maine coast view, very peaceful and private. |
There is a double bed with private bath on the first floor, the master bedroom has a queen size, antique four poster bed on the second floor, and the loft holds two twin beds over-looking the great room. The main bath has a single size Jacuzzi tub, and separate shower. The kitchen is very large and completely equipped with a self cleaning electric stove, microwave, dishwasher, and large side by side refrigerator. Because of the open floor plan design, you are never isolated while working or dining in the kitchen, but can enjoy the beautiful ocean view through two triple sliding glass French doors that lead out to the deck on the second floor. There is outside seating and dining furniture on the deck, as well as a gas grille. The guest house also has smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detector for your safety. In the room off the garage there is a utility room with a laundry tub for muddy shoes, etc. We now have a washer and dryer for your convenience. A clothesline is located on the side of the house for beach towels, etc. |
|
The house is serviced by its own well and a new state-of-the-art water system. The water is very pure coming from over 300 ft. below the surface and is entirely safe to drink and delicious. We have it tested often to insure that this is always true. Being so close to the ocean, fresh water is very precious and limited in supply. Please be conservative. Thank you!
The trash man comes on Tuesday morning. The trash barrels are kept in the garage to keep wildlife out. Please put all trash in tightly closed barrels, and put out in front of the garage on Monday night. |

The beach in front of the house is beautiful, with huge flat rocks to swim from as well as a beach cove. The shore is mixed sand and rock. We use beach shoes when we swim. The island in front, Haystack Island, is great for exploring. I have found two Indian arrowheads there! We have a sturdy aluminum rowboat, two sit on top kayaks and a double or tandem style kayak so that you can enjoy the coast no matter what your skill or comfort level may be. (The less experienced person sits in front.) Life jackets, oars and paddles are provided in the garage. You will find the miles of protected coastline spectacular and exciting. Harbor cruises, sunset tours, puffin, seal and whale watching boats leave from nearby ports every few hours. Monhegan Island, the famous artist colony where the Wyatts painted, is a wonderful day trip to make. Telephone numbers for this and other attractions are listed at the house.
